Eastern Carver County Schools beat state averages on science tests

The Minnesota Department of Education recently released results for the MCA II Science standardized tests administered to 5th and 8th graders statewide.  For Eastern Carver County Schools (District 112), the results were generally positive, with performance for both age groups exceeding state averages, and performing comparably to area districts (particularly among 5th graders).

5th Grade Results

62.7% of District 112 5th graders were proficient on the test, surpassing the state figure of 46.5%.  All six of the elementary schools in the district surpassed the state results, with Chanhassen Elementary topping the charts at 72.2% and Chaska Elementary and Clover Ridge Elementary at the bottom with 56.5% proficiency.

Compared to a sampling of other districts in the area, District 112’s performance was fourth out of the eight districts examined.

8th Grade Results

53.4% of District 112 8th graders were deemed proficient, compared to the statewide result of 44.7%.  Pioneer Ridge Middle School (56.9%) and Chaska Middle School West (56.4%) scored the best, while Chaska Middle School East (47.0%) was only slightly above the state average.

Compared to the same sampling of other districts in the area, District 112’s performance was sixth out of the eight districts examined.
