Happy Independence Day!

It’s easy sometimes to let the political struggles of the day get you down.  But on Independence Day, it’s important to take time out and recognize that we do live in a great country where we have the freedom to have these spirited debates.  Although we have different policy prescriptions for the future, we all love this country.  Let us never forget that in the heat of the political battle.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Independence Day!

There are a lot of great events going on across the county tomorrow.  Here’s a quick rundown of some of them:

In Chaska, the Jonathan Association has several activities planned.  First up is a 5K Fun Run.  Register starting at 8 a.m.at the Early Childhood Center on Village Road, the race begins at 8:30 a.m.   The annual Kiddie Parade starts at 11 a.m., traveling from the Jonathan General Store on Village Road to the Karen House on Bavaria Road.  Afterwards, a host of activities will be at the Karen House including face painting, pony rides, and a petting zoo.  In the evening, the city’s fireworks display will be at Jonathan Lake at 10 p.m.  Best viewing spots include McKnight Park, Jonathan Elementary School, and Jonathan Square.

Chanhassen will be hosting its annual Fourth of July Celebration.  There are activities all weekend — of note on the 4th are the parade at 2:30 p.m. and fireworks at Lake Ann Park at 10 p.m.
