Hand impressive in MLB debut

Chaska native Brad Hand gave up only one hit in his major league debut last night — but it was a solo home run to Atlanta’s Alex Gonzales in the fourth inning.  And that was enough, as Hand’s Florida Marlins were shutout by the Braves 1-0.

Hand became only the second starter since 1946 to lose hs major league debut while giving up one or fewer hits in six or more innings of work.  Hand pitched six innings, gave up the one hit, walked one, and struck out six.
